Some Character Poems

Poem One

He has to be satisfied

and no one can answer him

and unless the performer

executes what he has in mind,

he never lets go.

Poem Two

These men are going to force me

to stand on my hind legs

before the crowd of poachers,

their sight calibrated

and I will fade into the night.

  1. Breathtakingly beautiful. By far some of the best poetry I have read by someone your age. You are extremely talented and I hope you post more poetry in the future. Character poetry is some of my favourite poetry to write (and read). It allows me to detach myself from the poem in a way that makes me feel comfortable to share it. I have written poems about my struggle with mental illnesses in the past and as much as I would like to share them I can’t. They’re too personal and I feel like I am exposing myself. I love how you have left it up to the readers to decide what the poems are about. For me, I feel like they are linked and about males power over men.

    1. Thank you so much! I just don’t know what to say. Thank you! I feel exactly the same about detaching and distancing myself from the poem. It also enables me to come up with stories in my head whereas if I write a poem when I am not distanced from it, it always ends up being about my life. Happy Blogging! xx

  2. These poems are….ah….I just don’t no what to say. They are stunning. By far one of your best posts on here. You have a natural talent for poetry and I can’t wait to see more of it if you share it…yes please!

  3. These poems are amazing and anyone who disagrees with clearly doesn’t know anything about poetry. It takes a lot of courage to share any work you’ve created, especially poetry, and I commend you for that. I have only recently discovered your blog, but I love it…even more after this post. I don’t think anyone was expecting you to post something so vivid or amazing as this today. You are an amazing poet.
